​​I love reading! My ideal relaxing day is sitting, curled up with a good book and a cup of tea. If I could sit on the beach with a good book, that’s a phenomenal day too!

I enjoy watching my sons, Timothy and Matthew, play sports and I love cheering for them. My favorite part of the day, however, is reading to them before bed. I love how they remember what happened to the characters the night before as we continue reading our chapter book. It is wonderful to see them make connections to the characters we read about together.

An amazing part of being a teacher is watching my students get excited about reading. From the very beginning stages of tapping out sounds to blend words, to character development and the uncovering of plot twists, it is a wonderful experience to share with students.

I enjoy fostering a love of reading in children. Books are the pathway to adventure and discovery. I want children to reach for a book instead of a video game. I want students to take a book on a long, family road trip and read in the car. I want kids to get lost in books. I want children to fully experience the joy of reading.
